Listening to Birstall – get involved

We’re working with the Birstall and Birkenshaw ward councillors, our Kirklees Council colleagues and local volunteers. Together we’ll be out and about in Fieldhead, Birstall, Cambridge Road and Nova from 16th September to 4th October 2019, asking what people think of the area.

We’re using a tool called the “Place Standard”. This is a way of helping to get conversations going about any place (it could be your street, neighbourhood or town), by using some simple questions.

The team have been learning how to use the tool, planning the activities and asking local organisations and venues if they’d like to get involved. There are several ways to take part, including lots of drop-in sessions and the option for a home visit if you’d prefer.

Councillors, volunteers and staff will use what we learn to help create an action plan and to apply for funding for the local area. The information will also be available for other organisations to use.

Please look out for the Listening to Birstall team out and about in the area. You can find out more about how to get involved on the Listening to Birstall web pages:
