Look out for local volunteers, Newsome ward councillors and council staff, who will be talking with people in Newsome in May, June and July 2023. We’re aiming to find out what citizens think of life in the area. We’re really keen to hear what your hopes are for the future of Newsome. You can tell us about anything that matters to you.
To do this, we’ll be using a tool called the Place Standard. This is a way of helping to get conversations going about any place (it could be your street, neighbourhood or town), by using some simple questions.
For the first time, we’re using a version of the Place Standard which encourages participants to think more about climate issues (Place Standard with a Climate Lens). Our conversations will help people to talk about how they’d like Newsome to be in the future, and to share some ideas with the climate in mind.
The activities in Newsome are running from 20th May to 26th July 2023. The more people who take part, the more we will all learn about what really matters to people in the area. Citizens can take part online, but ward councillors, council staff and volunteers will also be out and about in Newsome and running drop-in sessions.
The Newsome Centre and Newsome ward councillors hope the results will give a voice to local citizens and encourage more people to get involved in shaping the future of their local place.
