Listening to Ravensthorpe

How do you feel about Ravensthorpe?

How do you feel about life in Ravensthorpe now, and what are your hopes for the future? We’re looking for views from anyone who lives, works or plays in Ravensthorpe. You can tell us what works for you now, how things might change in the future, and what matters to you most.

We’re asking about your local place now, ahead of plans being created for new housing and facilities at Dewsbury Riverside, which your area is a near neighbour to. We are working to find out what really matters to you in your place. You can take part now, then find out the results later in the year.

Take part by post

If you would prefer to complete a printed copy of our questionnaire, all residents and business owners can expect to receive information through the post. We will send you a printed questionnaire, with a freepost return envelope. These will start to arrive in the week beginning 21st June 2021.

What will happen next?

We’re sharing these results with our Housing Growth colleagues at Kirklees Council and their consultants, Barton Willmore.

What citizens have said will help to shape proposals for the Dewsbury Riverside housing development.

Dewsbury Riverside is the largest housing allocation in the Kirklees Local Plan, which was adopted in February 2019.

The site includes the development of 4,000 homes and supporting infrastructure, including schools, open spaces and local facilities.

Land at Dewsbury Riverside planning consultation

We’re asking about Ravensthorpe now, then the Housing Growth team, alongside Barton Willmore, will use what you tell us to help create plans for Dewsbury Riverside. All this will happen ahead of a planning application being submitted in Autumn 2021, before a Planning Committee decision in Winter 2021.

Your feedback is important as you’ll be helping us understand how Dewsbury Riverside would affect you and your neighbourhood, and what things you’d like us to consider. You can also comment on the initial proposals for Dewsbury Riverside, on the planning consultation website.

This is just one of the ways in which the results can be used to help make our local places even better. We’ll publish our summary results and the full data, so that anyone who has an interest in Ravensthorpe can find out what people said.
