Ask Honley

We asked you about life in Honley

A team of community volunteers from the village and staff from Kirklees Council were out and about in Honley from 25th October to 20th December 2019. We asked you some questions about what life in Honley is like. We had conversations with community groups, at local meetings and in lots of different community venues. People could also request a home visit or take part online. We shared the results and kept talking with people in Honley about which of the ideas to prioritise.

What’s happening now?

Look out for the Ask Honley group at Honley Christmas Street Market on Saturday 6th December 2025 10-3 pm on Church Street.

We will be giving an update on key actions and listening to your ideas on community priorities.

During Autumn 2024 the Ask Honley Group wanted to hear your views about Honley station, and to find out what changes to access and services you think will improve it. People identified Honley station as a high priority in the Ask Honley action plan.

158 people responded to the Honley station questionnaire, 100 of which did so online.

You can see the results of the responses here:

What’s happened so far?

In Autumn 2023 the Ask Honley Group shared progress being made on the Ask Honley Action Plan. People were asked what actions should be taken next.  Over 50 people gave their views at drop-ins and local coffee mornings. In February 2024 senior students at Honley High School and local partners discussed the need for improvements at Honley Station.

The Ask Honley information is a local resource for Honley community groups and partners. It is looked after by the Ask Honley Group of community volunteers and partners. Local groups can use it to identify gaps and needs and to plan local activity. The Ask Honley Group encourages collaborative working between community organisations. Feedback and engagement are undertaken regularly by the group.
