Our towns, villages and communities are the strength of Kirklees – and local people have asked us to do more to recognise this.
Our citizens want to have more of a conversation about what matters in our places, and more of a voice in what happens here. We know this through the work of the Kirklees Democracy Commission.
With our support, citizens from local places across Kirklees have also created a shared goal called Shaped by People, which says that everyone should be able to shape their local place.
So we’re working with citizens and colleagues to make sure that everyone has a stake in the place where they live, work or visit.
One of the ways we’re doing this is by encouraging and supporting conversations about our local places, and bringing people together to act on what we’ve learned.
