Cleckheaton – your town, your voice

We’ve been finding out how you feel about visiting, working in or living in your town centre now & listening to ideas for the future.

What people have said so far

From 1st September to 11th October 2021 we asked people in Cleckheaton to share your experiences of Cleckheaton town centre now, and your ideas for the future. Find out more about what we did, who participated and what we’ve learned from participants:

‘Cleckheaton – your town, your voice’ results

In June 2022 we held a drop-in session at Cleckheaton Town Hall, to discuss the results and to work with local people to prioritise what is important to them. We also sent a letter to businesses and households in Cleckheaton. This included an option to complete an online questionnaire, which was shaped by what we’ve learned from participants so far.

What happened next?

Kirklees Council, local ward councillors and local partners have used what we’ve learned to help create an action plan. This will now inform funding and investment in Cleckheaton town centre, to reflect what people have told us.

Investing in our small town centres

We all want to see our town centres revitalised and to do this we really need to know what people think about them.

Our town centres provide a range of business, cultural, leisure and local retail facilities and are also areas of local growth. Kirklees Council are investing £1.5m in Cleckheaton town centre, as part of our small town centres funding. We are also investing in other ways.

We know that how our towns look and feel is important in attracting people to visit them. We want our towns to be clean, environmentally friendly, and welcoming for children and families.

By taking part, you’re helping to inform the improvements to Cleckheaton town centre, by helping us understand what’s important to you.
