Volunteers from Kirkburton and Highburton Community Association, supported by local ward councillors and Kirklees Council staff, had conversations with local residents, businesses and community groups. We asked people who live in, work in or visit Burton about what life is like in the area now, how things might change in the future and what matters most to them. We used a tool called the “Place Standard” which encourages conversations about your local place, by using some simple questions.
Who participated?
We had conversations with people at Kirkburton Beer Festival, on the street, in local businesses, at Burton Village Hall, at Kirkburton Library and at Kirkburton Cricket Club. School children took part during their PHSE class. 80 people took part online.
